DoubleBlind is a biannual print magazine and media company covering timely, untold stories about the expansion of psychedelics around the globe. Our pages are filled with investigative journalism, educational shorts, poetry, illustrations, and photography. We aim to feature writers, artists, and stories from around the world, representing the diversity of the psychedelic community. We don't just cover psychedelics, but rather we're using them as a jumping off point to explore mental health, social equity, environmental justice, spirituality, and more. Our stories dive into the nuances of where psychedelics intersect with science, policy, culture, and identity.
Psychedelics—as the first class of drugs that heal through inspiring mystical experiences—hold the potential to shift how the Western medical community perceives wellness more broadly. We cover that too. With an open mind and a commitment to fact-checking, we provide nuance to the reporting on alternative healing modalities and mindfulness movements. Psychedelics aren't just about the 1960s cultural revolution—or the research renaissance that has followed it in recent decades. They're a jumping off point for exploring what it means to be well as individuals and a collective: we invite you to contemplate that with us.
#2 In DoubleBlind's second issue, we cover the latest developments in the rapidly expanding psychedelic movement. Reporter Zach Sokol explores why decriminalizing psychedelics—and growing your own mushrooms—is the best way to combat "corporadelics" (yes, that's a thing). We also look at ayahuasca for conflict resolution between Israelis and Palestinians; the rise of men's healing circles; and the beauty of female friendship, across generations. Buy the issue now for these stories, poetry, photography, art, and so much more.
#3 In our third issue, we explore psychedelics as tools for healing and interconnectivity in times of crisis. Inside the issue, you'll find timely stories that examine racial and social justice in relation to psychedelics, asking us to reflect on controversies and inequities within the field. We cover the paradox of conscious capitalism, the reality of racism in the psychedelic space, and the question of psychedelic exceptionalism—are psychedelics inherently better than other drugs, like opiates, and how can diverse communities of all types of drug users work symbiotically to dismantle the Drug War? We also take readers around the world, from an all-women's ayahuasca ceremony in the Amazon to the underbelly of the global festival culture to queer communities from around the African continent. The issue also features practical advice, like how to choose the right psychedelic for you, as well as a transcript of a previously unpublished interview with Timothy Leary and Roger Steffens (the artist behind the renowned Family Acid photo collection). And there's even more.
#4 It's now widely accepted among folks in the field that psychedelics will be legal in the next decade. So now, the question becomes: what will that look like? In our fourth issue, we speak to the leading psychedelic drug development companies in an attempt to answer this question. We also highlight indigenous voices with an homage to Amazonian artist Pablo Amaringo and a feature on the Huichols, a native group to Mexico, that's fighting to preserve the land where they've been collecting peyote for generations. Find all this, plus practical advice like how to come out to friends and family as a psychedelic user, and much more.
