Piccolo was born in 2012 with the intention of offering select seeds for urban gardens, offering vegetables and plants specially designed for growing in pots: compact, dwarf varieties, suitable for creating a mini garden on terraces.

Their selected seeds are packed with sustainable and completely recyclable materials.

The common mallow (Malva sylvestris) is a herbaceous plant of the Malvaceae family, very abundant throughout Europe on roadsides and on both cultivated and vacant land. It flowers in spring until mid-summer, producing cluster-shaped inflorescences with helical cymes; the hermaphroditic flowers measure between 2 and 6 cm in diameter, with purple or pink petals, with darker veins. The perianth is pentamerous, with calculus of 3 welded parts at its base. The flowers close at dusk and in bad weather to protect the pollen. Pollination is essentially entomogamous, although they are capable of self-pollination. The fruit is a capsule (schizocarp) formed by several mericarps, kidney-shaped, brown in color and with lateral ribs located in a radial fan.

Medicinal properties:

There is a pharmacological industry around mallow, since active principles of some importance are known in this plant such as arabinose, rhamnose and small amounts of tannins, which help against stomach cramps.

The leaves, stem and flowers are often used in popular medicine as an emollient to be applied in enemas and boils, and in the form of a herbal tea against coughs. With the leaves of the mallow a tea is made that is used to relieve fever; two to three cups a day

The plants can grow up to 60 cm tall and 45 cm wide.
